‘Stay Safe Online’ Campaign and ‘G20 Digital Innovation Alliance’

  • As part of India's G20 presidency, the Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Communications and Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has launched the "Stay Safe Online" campaign and the “G20 Digital Innovation Alliance” (G20-DIA), recently.
About Stay Safe Online Campaign
  • The “Stay Safe Online” campaign” aims to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe in the online world amid the increasing dependence on the internet.
  • Unique challenges are arising with the rapid evolution of the technology landscape and the increasing number of internet users in India.
  • The Stay Safe Online Campaign seeks to make citizens aware about the various cyber risks and ways to address them.
  • The year-long campaign will especially target children, women, students and senior citizens, differently-abled people, teachers, and government officials.
  • It will be conducted in Hindi, English and regional languages to cover a larger number of people.
  • It will deliver awareness content in the form of infographics, short videos, cartoon stories, etc., via widely used social media platforms and other forms of media like print.
G20- DIA
  • The G20 Digital Innovation Alliance (G20-DIA) aims to identify, recognize and promote the adoption of innovative and impactful digital technologies developed by the starups from the G20 countries and the non-member states that were invited.
  • These technologies must be capable of addressing the needs of humanity in 6 broad themes – agriculture, health, education, finance, secured digital infrastructure and circular economy.
  • The technologies developed based on these themes will be enabled via the Digital Public Goods Infrastructure so that they can be adopted at the global level, the digital divide is removed and sustainable and inclusive development is ensured.
