Pralay Missile

The first flight test of indigenously developed surface to surface missile ‘Pralay’ has been conducted by DRDO from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

About Parlay

  • ‘Pralay’ is India’s first conventional quasi-ballistic missile.
  • It is a quasi-ballistic missile that has a low trajectory, and as it is largely ballistic, it can manoeuvre in flight.
  • The missile has been developed in a way that it is able to defeat the interceptor missiles and also can change its path after covering certain range mid-air.
  • It is powered by a solid-propellant rocket motor and many new technologies.
  • The missile guidance system includes a state-of-the-art navigation system and integrated avionics.
  • Pralay is a next-generation short-range ballistic missile with a carrying capacity of a 1-tonne
The payload capacity is 500 – 1000 kg.
